Plus d'un humain sur deux vit en ville aujourd'hui et, souvent, ceux qui vivent à la campagne adoptent des comportements qui sont ceux des urbains. Cependant, partout dans le monde la ville est en débat et, avec elle, toutes les grandes questions du moment - économiques, sociales, culturelles, politiques et géopolitiques. Parler de la ville, c'est réfléchir à notre rapport à la nature, aux conditions matérielles d'existence de ceux qui y vivent ou y travaillent, aux phénomènes migratoires, à la mobilité des individus ; c'est également s'interroger sur la démocratie et la façon dont l'espace urbain est géré, programmé, transformé, et dont il répond aux attentes et aux besoins de la population, ne serait-ce qu'en matière de logement.
